Frequently Asked Questions: Where to Stay in Valle de Guadalupe

Should I Stay In Ensenada or Valle de Guadalupe?

It depends. If you have a car, I would recommend staying in Ensenada and joining daily tours to Valle de Guadalupe.

If you have a car rental, I believe it’s worth staying 2 or 3 nights in one of the spectacular resorts that I have mentioned above.

Then you can spend another couple of nights in Ensenada to explore the city.

Do You Need a Car in Valle de Guadalupe?

Yes, you do need a car if you want to explore different wineries on your own. I personally love the freedom to drive around at my own pace.

However if you don’t feel like driving in Baja California, no worries.

But in this case, I wouldn’t stay in Valle de Guadalupe because there is no transportation or local tour unless you just want to pick one of those spectacular places here mentioned and just enjoy the premises, which is something I definitely recommend.

If you want to check out more wineries, you should stay in Ensenada and join a winery tour from there.

When Should I Go to Valle de Guadalupe?

It’s always a good time to go to Valle de Guadalupe and the wineries are always open for tours.

However, the high season is usually summer when it’s warmer.

I went in March and I loved the chilly climate, and the fact that there were no snakes around 🙂

Valle de Guadalupe is located only 1 hour and 30 minutes from the US border in Tijuana.

What Should I Wear in Valle de Guadalupe?

It depends on the time of the year. Winters are cold in Tijuana, so you should think of wearing a long-sleeved shirt and a jacket.

Summers are pleasantly warm and T-shirts would work. I would also wear closed comfortable shoes.

Yes, the local currency is Mexican Pesos and although credit cards are accepted pretty much everywhere, I would still carry pesos with me.

However, if you are in Ensenada, which is only 45 45-minute drive away, you can rent a UBER to get to the Valle de Guadalupe.

Is Travel to Valle de Guadalupe Safe?

Yes, I felt completely safe when I traveled to Valle de Guadalupe.

The only thing that would scare me would be rattlesnakes if you travel in the summer.
