Sargassum Seaweed In Tulum in November

Tulum beaches, like all the other Riviera Maya beaches of Mexico, are on the Caribbean coastline, which means sargassum seaweed is a problem here as well.

However, the sargassum season in Tulum only runs between April and September, and the seaweed is particularly problematic during the hottest months (June-July).

Fortunately, the rest of the year sees little to no sargassum.

What’s more, November is one of the best months to visit Tulum for sargassum-free beaches.

You won’t have to worry about the seaweed if you’re visiting anytime between November and February.

Events in Tulum in November

🌺💀 Day of The Dead

The month of November begins with big events. Its first and second days are both huge festivals in Mexico. The first day, Saints Day (Dia de Todos Santos), is dedicated to remembering deceased children, and the second day, Day of the Dead (Dia de Los Muertos), is to remember deceased adults; they’re celebrated as a joint two-day event.

The first day is all about leaving candies, treats, and toys as offerings on altars in the cemeteries and homes in remembrance of the deceased children.

The second day involves making offerings for the deceased adults with tequila and food.

The festival is celebrated grandly in many parts of Mexico, but not so much in Tulum.

You will find the altars for offerings in the cemeteries as well in the downtown area, but not much in the way of food, live music, or performances.

🎷 Riviera Maya Jazz Festival

The Riviera Maya Jazz Festival is another huge event that you can participate in if you’re visiting Tulum.

It takes place just a short distance away, in the gorgeous Playa del Carmen.

There is no entrance fee, so you can attend this three-day event for free. In case you’re staying in Tulum until the end of November, don’t miss out on the chance to attend one of the top 10 jazz music festivals in the world!

What is the best time of year to go to Tulum?

Tulum has three different travel seasons.

Each of these travel seasons offers a very unique experience, so it’s hard to say which one of them is objectively the best time of year to visit.

However, you can definitely choose the best time to visit depending on the type of vacation you would like to enjoy.

The high season (late December through March) is considered the best season for weather, but this is also when popular attractions like Chichen Itza, Sian Ka’an, and the Tulum Maya ruins are crowded and the hotel prices are their highest.

The low season (June through October) is the best time to take a budget trip to Tulum.

This is when the prices are at their lowest, and there are little to no crowds anywhere you go.

But you will see some rain and higher humidity during it.

The shoulder season (April-May and November-early December) is sort of the middle ground when there is not as much tourist activity as the high season (which means off-peak prices and fewer crowds), and the weather is also starting to improve as the winter season approaches.

Is Tulum safe to visit in November?

Tulum is a year-round vacation destination for travelers from the United States as well as many other countries of the world.

It’s a safe place to visit any time of year, and November is no exception.

Just make sure you follow some standard safety rules that apply everywhere around the globe and you will be A-okay here.

What is the Tulum weather like?

Tulum has a tropical climate, so the weather here is warm year-round.

But there are definitely variations in the temperature, amount of rain, sunset times, activities, marine life, and events depending on the month.

December to February are the coldest months of the year, while May and June are the hottest months with slightly higher temperatures than the rest of the summer months.

The hurricane season is also within the summer season and some of the early fall, with September being the rainiest month of the year.

The best weather is from late December to early April, but November, May, and early December are also good months in terms of weather.
