If you are planning a visit to the pretty Queretaro capital city, Santiago de Queretaro, and you are wondering where to stay, here is an essential guide to my favorite Queretaro hotels, the most charming and cozy for any budget and style. Yes, I have visited almost all of them and this is my honest review.
Queretaro is a beautiful city with lots of amazing things to do and places to visit in the historical center and the surroundings as well.
Among the amazing things to do in Queretaro, browsing through all the museums and amazing historical building were my favorite, but the highlight of my visit was the 4 days trip through the Sierra Gorda of Queretaro. Really an off the beaten path route that you shouldn’t miss if you are in the area. While in the city though, you should treat yourself to trying the delicious food in the various Queretaro Restaurants choice, and to staying in a lovely hotel. Even if you don’t like to splurge, there are lovely hotels for lower budget. In this post I will tell you all about them.
All the hotels in this selection are located in the historical center because I believe if you are visiting you will want to stay in the heart of the city where all the top attractions are located and where it’s definitely more appealing. If you prefer to stay in an apartment, you can read my post on the best Queretaro Airbnb that I have specially selected for their exquisite decor and location.

Queretaro Hotels – Luxury Properties
La casa de la Marchesa
This iconic hotel offers a luxury experience in the middle of the historical centre close to shop restaurants and places to visit. The hotel was the house of a noblewoman with a very interesting story behind. The building has been redone and refurbished with elegant Balinese furniture when it was turned into a hotel. Also, the patio on the ground floor is a great setting for the hotel restaurant, very popular among locals, especially for breakfast. If you are not going to stay there I would suggest you should go for a visit and admire the stunning architecture.

Hotel Casona De La Republica
Located in the heart of the historical center the Hotel Casona de La Republica is a Boutique Design Hotel with a unique concept that merge the modern comfort and the original colonial style. In fact, the original architecture of the house has been kept as it was built at the end of the 17th century. The new additions include modern comfortable amenities and a combination of different styles and art pieces of the Mexican tradition. The result is warmth and elegance combined with excellent service and convenient location.
Doña Urraca Hotel & Spa
Spectacular hotel located in the heart of Queretaro. The rooms, located around a manicured garden and a large pool, are exquisitely decorated with modern art and bright colors nicely contrasting with the white walls and linen. On the contrary, the rest of the building and public area has a warm colonial feel with interesting art pieces strategically placed to create a homey feel.
Spectacular ultra modern property, very tastefully decorated and looked after in every detail. The beautiful internal garden is one of the highlights besides the spacious and elegant artsy room. In fact it’s comfortable chairs sparsely distributed around the garden and the sun beds around the pool invite to sit, relax and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere
Casa Brunella Boutique Hotel
Among all the Queretaro hotels, this is one of my favorite hotels, it was previously called Nena hotel and they had a sister property in San Miguel de Allende, but I can see they had probably sold it or separated. Even if they changed the name they didn’t change the charm of this property. Still very stylishly decorated with dark colors and vintage pieces. Definitely the place where I would be happy to splurge.
Mid-range Priced Boutique Hotels in Queretaro
Hotel Holistico Dos patios
Gorgeous Hotel is more like a retreat, dangerous because you will never want to leave. The spacious rooms are lovely decorated in different themes and colors. The hotel offers a world-class spa service and yoga classes. The internal patios are a place where to relax and unwind. A great value for money.
Hotel Casa del Atrio
Exquisite hotel that artfully merges the new and the old, modern painting and vintage pieces of furniture creating a cozy and welcoming ambiance and an elegant homey feeling.
La Hija del Alfarero
Nice and spacious rooms minimally decorated in earthy tone using lots of woods and colorful tiles for the bathrooms. It’s a cute property with a great value for money.
Located in the very heart of Queretaro, close to all the main museums and plazas, Hotel Madero is a modern property built in an old colonial building. The rooms are very minimal and can feel a little “cold”, if you know what I mean. And yet, it’s very elegant and impeccable clean.
Hotel Boutique MO17
Ultra modern beautiful and elegant hotel with a touch of old. In fact the original stone walls are visible in some of the rooms warming up the space and enhancing personality and character. Another great work of art in Queretaro.
Hostels and Low Budget Hotels in Queretaro
Hostal Blue Bycicle House
This one was my favorite both for the location, close to the temple of Santa Cruz and for the cute style. They also offer 1-hour bicycle use per day, according to availability. If you wish your own room they do have it, but you will need to share the bathroom.
Hostal Septimo Arte
I haven’t personally seen this one but it looked cool with lots of art and nice decoration, right in the middle of town.
