Cabo San Lucas, or simply Cabo, is a resort city at the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula, in the Mexican state of Baja California Sur.
Cabo is known for its beaches, scuba diving sites, the sea arch El Arco de Cabo San Lucas, and marine life.
The Los Cabos Corridor has become a heavily touristed area with various luxury hotels and golf courses. The town is also a popular port of call for many cruise ships.
The weather in Cabo is warm and sunny year-round, making it a popular choice for travelers looking to escape the cold winter months.

The town also has some of the best nightlife experiences on offer. In short, Cabo has something to offer everyone, from its stunning beaches to its vibrant nightlife and abundance of activities.
So, whether you’re looking to relax on the beach or explore everything this lively destination has to offer, Cabo San Lucas is the perfect place to do it.
Now that you know about the town itself, we can dive into the weather aspect of Cabo San Lucas in September. I’ll begin with an overview of the Cabo weather in September.

Cabo San Lucas is a beautiful place to visit in September. The weather is decent for spending time on the beach or exploring the town. This is when the temperatures aren’t too hot, prices are low, and there are fewer tourists.
The average temperature in Cabo San Lucas in September is 80 degrees Fahrenheit (26 degrees Celsius). The temperature usually ranges from 75-86 degrees Fahrenheit (24-30 degrees Celsius). The water temperature in September is also very pleasant, averaging 26 degrees Celsius (79 degrees Fahrenheit).

The average high temperature in September is 86 degrees Fahrenheit, and the average minimum temperature is a pleasant 75 degrees.
The higher daytime temperatures do feel hot and sometimes even unbearable and these temperatures combined with the high average relative humidity make outdoor conditions uncomfortable.
It’s apparent that September isn’t really a great month to visit Cabo for the best weather conditions, but there are many other pros that make it a great time of year to visit here.
The temperatures are still pleasant enough to explore the surroundings, but there are fewer people around and there are good deals on everything so it’s easier to take a trip to Cabo on a budget.

Precipitation in Cabo San Lucas in September
September is the rainiest month of the year, but most of the precipitation recorded in it usually comes within the first 15 days.
Cabo isn’t really a very rainy region, so this basically means that there are just a few more rainy days than the usual no-rain weather.
On average, you can expect around 4 days of rain and double the amount of rainfall compared to August (3.6 inches of rain).
You can definitely plan a great vacation even in September if you take a look at the weather forecast beforehand.

With an average wind speed of 9.7 mph, September is far from the windiest month in Cabo, so you can plan lots of water sports and beach days on your trip because this is also when the rainy season ends and the seaside becomes the best place to spend time.

Sargassum Seaweed In Cabo San Lucas in September
Sargassum seaweed is a concern for beachgoers, even in some of Mexico’s most popular beach towns. Large quantities of this seaweed show up on many Caribbean coast beaches in the country, especially in the summer.
Luckily, it’s not a problem on the Pacific Ocean side and the Sea of Cortez side of Mexico, so the beaches in Cabo San Lucas are completely free of seaweed.
If you’re planning a beach trip to Cabo, you’re bound to have a memorable one!

Events in Cabo San Lucas in September
Independence Day
Mexican Independence Day is a big national holiday, so it’s no surprise that the celebration is huge in Cabo San Lucas as well.

Charro Day is a big cultural event in Mexico, which means you get to celebrate it in Cabo as well.
The festival includes fun stuff like live music, dancing, and roping, and there is lots of delicious food as well. Mexican cowboys/charros start the day’s celebrations with parades, wearing traditional cowboy outfits and on horseback (and the horses are also dressing fancy).

Pros of Visiting Cabo San Lucas in September
✅ September is the last month of the low season, so you will still find the lowest prices, great deals on the best hotels, and good deals on flights. These pros of September make the month excellent for a budget and intimate vacation to Cabo.
✅ The month of September is the rainiest month of the year, but Cabo doesn’t receive much rain throughout the year, and although you shouldn’t usually have to worry about tropical storms, this year was an exception as the tropical storms have hit quite badly the Baja Coast. Luckily with no major damage.
✅ Sargassum seaweed is an issue on many Mexican beaches, and September is the peak month for it. But Los Cabos beaches are completely free of this seaweed, so it’s the perfect spot if you’re looking for a gorgeous beach destination.

Cons of Visiting Cabo San Lucas in September
👎 September is still a couple of months too early if you want to encounter some whale sharks and humpback whales, as these majestic creatures only start showing up at the Los Cabos shores when winter is around the corner.
On the other hand, instead of whale watching, you can still go snorkeling with the sea turtles, blue marlins, yellowfish tunas, and other marine creatures that are here all around the year.
👎 The weather during September is characterized by higher temperatures and humidity, so you will find the outdoors uncomfortable some hours of the day.
👎 The month of September is part of the low season in Cabo San Lucas, so some activities and tours might not be open. However, you will still find lots and lots of things to do during the month, so it’s not a big issue
