3. Iberostar Cozumel

Iberostar is a very large and upscale all-inclusive resort on the shores of the Caribbean, with Playa del Carmen right opposite it. The 306 bungalow-style lodgings of this resort are very unique in their design and surroundings.

Since Iberostar is a chain of hotels focused on preserving the essence of the region its hotels are situated in, their Cozumel resort features a touch of Mexican architecture and tradition. The surroundings of the guestrooms are also very natural and refreshing.

El Cozumeleno really suits its Caribbean location, with its simple design and tropical surroundings.

The all-inclusive features a total of 252 rooms, each one very spacious and tastefully furnished. The modest decor of the rooms is compensated by the breathtaking views of the ocean.

Nestled in the many peaceful beaches south of the cruise port, the Occidental also has a private beach of its own to match the authentic Mexican vibe all around it.

The interiors of its spacious rooms reflect a subtle hint of the Mexican style in their vibrant interiors, complemented with contemporary luxuries like non-alcoholic minibars and air-conditioning.

7. Melia Cozumel

Melia is a relatively smaller all-inclusive resort located on one of the most beautiful Cozumel beaches. The resort blends its home-like vibe with the exquisite beauty of Santa Pilar Beach to make for a very gorgeous oceanfront stay.

All of the luxurious splendor of Melia Cozumel is displayed in its amazing suites. The idyllic suites have all the amenities of modern lodging, along with some featuring whirlpool tubs on terraces, unlimited golf or free spa credit, and many other such services.

The rooms in Melia Cozumel are very spacious and clean and feature minimalistic interiors, so expect comfortable and simple lodgings perfect for taking in the views of the ocean. Melia also has two pools with fabulous ocean views, one of which is adult-only and features cabanas beside it.

The many restaurants and bars of the resort are focused on the all-inclusive philosophy followed by the hotels’ chain, so expect some of the best food and services during your stay here.

8. Fiesta Americana Cozumel

Fiesta Americana Cozumel is another relatively small but intimately designed all-inclusive resort on my list. The smaller size only means a better experience in terms of the luxury and quality of your stay.

The oceanview and pool rooms of Fiesta Americana are complete with lavish furnishings, charming decors, and modern luxuries. The furnished balconies of these rooms offer views of the ocean, while some rooms have terraces with pools.

The restaurants of this all-inclusive resort each specialize in a different cuisine, making your overall experience remarkable.

Fiesta Americana’s services and amenities are some of the best, with a full-service spa, game room, kids club, fitness center, gift shop, swimming pool, on-site ATM, and all the facilities of a 5-star resort available to you.

The spa offers modern treatments as well as ones inspired by Mexican traditions, and you will also have the option of hydrotherapy to rid you of any stress and fatigue, making your stay filled with relaxation and healing.

Fiesta Americana has a very nice location, with the cruise port just a few minutes from it, and is surrounded by the lush jungle on one side and the blue waters of the Caribbean on the other. This natural beauty is complemented by the hotel’s modern interiors.

9. The Explorean Cozumel

Just behind the Fiesta Americana, and owned by the same parent company, is The Explorean Cozumel. But what makes this all-inclusive special is its entire focus on travel and scuba diving, so if you’re all about those two, this is the resort for you.

It is actually my favorite all-inclusive hotel in Cozumel.

Surrounded by the jungle, The Explorean features 56 rooms, each one very unique and incorporating the rich nature around the property in its interiors.

The Explorean is a more intimate property compared to its neighbor, but you will have access to the restaurant, pool, and beach of Fiesta Americana during your stay here. The on-site restaurant and bar are pretty good, too.

The focus on exploration isn’t only in the resort’s name, The Explorean includes so many activities like archeological site tours, jeep tours of the island, water sports, and more in the price for your room.

The Explorean also has lots of on-site experiences, ranging from connecting with nature, swimming in the pool, getting treatments at the spa, and much more.

10. El Cid La Ceiba Cozumel

Located very near the Cozumel downtown is the El Cid La Ceiba resort, and it features some of the most amazing rooms for lodging.

The suites at El Cid La Ceiba are large and modern, and smaller rooms with fully-equipped kitchenettes are attached to each one, giving your stay an upscale touch. You will have air-conditioning and flat-screen TVs in them, and views of the ocean as well.

Adjacent to the jacuzzi is a swim-up bar where you can couple your swimming with unique drinks and double the enjoyment of your day. There are also two man-made beaches at the property to complement the two towers of the resort.

The beachfront of El Cid La Ceiba features a gorgeous waterfall and has a snorkeling area as well. Across the street, many of Cozumel’s restaurants and shops are within walking distance of the resort’s guests.

The all-inclusive and partial-inclusive packages of this resort are divided into tiers, so your services and freebies will depend on the tier you purchase. I recommend going all out because the lower tiers aren’t as enjoyable an experience.

The resort is practically next to the cruise port, so you will also see many day-pass guests around during your stay, which might not prove a relaxing experience on very busy days.

11. Cozumel Resort by Wyndham

Wyndham Collection hotels are widely popular, and the Cozumel resort belonging to this chain is no exception. Just a short distance from the city center, the Wyndham Cozumel Resort is a luxurious hotel perfect for a fun-filled stay on the island.

The rooms of Wyndham Cozumel Resort feature luxurious interiors accentuated with subtle touches over pristine whites, and each one has air-conditioning and balconies. The interiors of the resort have similar decor.

The spa treatments of Cozumel Resort by Wyndham are some of the very best, so you can get that stress massaged away any time you like. Or, if you feel like taking a dip, the outdoor pools at the resort are also quite nice.

The Wyndham Cozumel Resort also features a beach club, and a gym to keep you fit and healthy regardless of your indulgences at the amazing restaurants there. Nightly live entertainment is another aspect of a delightful stay at this resort.

Many shops and restaurants are nearby, and the city’s nightlife, as well as deep-sea experiences, are easily accessible from the property, and the on-site tour desk ensures you get to explore the island to your heart’s content.

12. Sunscape Sabor Cozumel

Sunscape Sabor is an AMR collection resort in Cozumel, and it’s pretty popular for a family visiting the island. With refined rooms, tons of modern amenities, and unimaginably fun activities for kids, it’s the ultimate vacation destination on the island.

There are 218 rooms and suites for guests here, and every one of them is luxurious, to say the least. You will have minibars, safe deposit boxes, and televisions included in the room price, and the exquisite wooden furnishings are a cherry on top.

There are three on-site restaurants here, one of which is a buffet restaurant, and the remaining two are formal restaurants serving amazing food. You can also grab great drinks from the three bars of Sunscape Sabor.

The kids get to enjoy hotel-issued passports, red-carpet receptions, and lots of treats to make their experience here special and memorable. For you, the spa and outdoor pool are there to take care of all your distress and worries.

The gorgeous white-sand beach of Sunscape Sabor is only for the guests staying here and it’s the longest strip of beach, so that’s another pro for an ideal family trip.

There are also kids’ and teens’ clubs on the property.

The use of snorkeling and kayaking equipment is completely free from the on-site dive shop at Sunscape Sabor, which means getting the best of Cozumel’s famous underwater experiences.

14. Secrets Aura Cozumel

One more AMR collection all-inclusive on my list is an adults-only resort in Cozumel. This one is definitely my pick for a romantic vacation for couples.

Secrets Aura is truly a Caribbean oasis with its ultra-luxury suites and world-class amenities. Each one has a private balcony or terrace, the decor is very elegant, and the modern amenities of a five-star lodging are all there.

The interiors combine wood, stone, and marble to create an exotic style of interiors, blending the aesthetics of Secrets Aura’s surroundings with comfort and space.

The flowing pool at Secrets Aura is another one of the resort’s unique amenities, where you can take a refreshing swim with the turquoise waters of the Caribbean in your view.

Cozumel Mexico Resorts FAQs

If this is your first trip to Cozumel or your first time staying at an all-inclusive resort, you may have a few more questions as you plan.

What does all-inclusive mean in Cozumel?

All-inclusive resorts in Cozumel include your hotel room, food, and drinks all in one price. Note that the price is typically per person and not per room as it may be in a standard hotel. Each resort offers different dining and drink options. Some are available anytime, as much as you want, while some fancier restaurants may be reserved to 1 meal per X days (usually 3 days). Additionally, top-shelf liquor is usually an extra charge as well.

Some resorts go above and beyond and include activities like diving and snorkeling. Some also have free nightly entertainment, kids’ programs, and more.

Is it worth paying for all-inclusive?

It depends on whether you take advantage of the activities food and drinks the all-inclusive resort has to offer. I am not much of a drinker for example and I prefer a la carte eating to the buffet.

Also, I would be all day out exploring. So for me, it wouldn’t be worth it.

But for other people, it would. It really depends on what kind of vacation you are planning to have.

What is the average price for an all-inclusive resort in Cozumel?

Prices for an All inclusive resort in Cozumel range from 130 USD to 350 USD per person per night.

How much should I tip at an all-inclusive resort in Cozumel?

Normally the expected tipping % goes from 10 to 20 % but it’s difficult to determine in an All inclusive hotel where everything is basically included.

I would just leave 50 MXN a day in the room for the housekeeping staff and 100 MXN at the restaurant if you feel the service was exceptional but you are not expected to tip there.

How many days do you need in Cozumel?

This is a billion-dollar question. It really depends on the activities you have in mind. However, to see the most beautiful parts of Cozumel you may need 3 full days when you can drive around the island, take a diving trip, or a Cozumel boat trip, relax in one of the Cozumel Beach Clubs, and enjoy the spectacular views on the east coast.

👉 Also, check out the top Adult-only all-inclusive resorts in Cancun

What do you pay for at an all-inclusive resort?

Usually, in an all-inclusive resort, everything is included, from the room to the drinks and food, and non-motorized watersport activities. In some hotels like Secret resorts, even scuba diving is included.

What is not included are the following activities: motorized watersports, premium drinks, diving (sometimes) spa, transportation, and tours.

Is Cozumel better than Cancun?

It’s really hard to say. They are equally beautiful destinations and yet very different. Saying which one is better is very personal.

However, you can read about their differences and similarities in my detailed blog post Cancun vs Cozumel.
